Chasey turns One!

Charles Frederick celebrated his 365th day on Earth in Korean style, just like Caleb did.  We are so proud of our little boy!  He actually added peace to our family this first year.  He's sunny, cuddly, long-suffering, and he has a smile that could sell Korean birthday suits, no?

We celebrated with a Korean custom.  Chase had to choose between 3 objects, and his selection would define his future life.

1.  A dollar bill - which symbolizes wealth

2. A pencil - which stands for scholarly pursuits

3. A ribbon - which stands for a healthy, long life.

FYI, Caleb picked the pencil on his first birthday.

We topped off the event with a little birthday cake.

In the words of Charlie when he proposed to Cassie with a fake diamond ring the size of a peach pit: "I kind of outdid myself this time."  

Actually, the duck was supposed to sit up straight and not look so melted, but at least Caleb still thought it looked ducklike.  "Duck" is a word Chasey has said before--probably by accident, but nonetheless worthy of a cake.  He ate it carefully (as did my parents.)
