Chasey Learns to Walk

At 17 months and 30 days old, Chase still hadn't shown any interest in walking. In retrospect, it's easy to say we had nothing to worry about, but it wasn't clear at the time that he was making progress. Oliver and I were worried and enrolled him in Early Intervention. Our pediatrician threatened to do a neurological test on him if he wasn't walking by 18 months. Chase was normal--even great in every other area, but he refused to get up off his hands and knees.

So on Sunday, November 23rd, I was helping Caleb get ready for bed in his room, when Oliver called out, "Elise, you need to come see this!" Chase had started walking towards the TV. He took ten steps forward, turned around, and then took ten steps back to the couch. All without falling. We were ecstatic!

Here's a video of Chase the next evening.

Over the Thanksgiving Holiday, Chase practiced walking between Oma, Opa, Tyson, Caleb, Oliver and me. He walks everywhere now, and even tries to run sometimes. We are so proud of our little boy.
