What do you get when you combine this...
with this?

You get Hurricane Sandy ushering our precious Brooksie into the terrible twos. You also get an all-day birthday celebration with the entire family at home! Thanks to school cancellations and dangerous roads, we were able to lavish attention on Brooks all day.
He was so excited when we sang to him and brought him his presents. He didn't really know what was going on, but whatever it was, he liked it.
Brooksie was so excited to play with all of his presents, except for the socks, but those actually made me the happiest. Thank you so much to the St. George Hahls (who gave B. a talking Leap-Pad magnet toy for our refrigerator), Oma and Opa, and the Babbel parents for all the fantastic gifts. Everything brought a big smile to Brooksie, and his brothers, too.
Of course, the Alvin and the Chipmunks birthday card from ZZ and PZ was the biggest hit of the day!
We enjoyed some good jack-o-lantern birthday cake, perfect for a Frankenstorm birthday. It looked better in real life.
And here's Brooksie with the cake. You may need to tilt your head to make this video work for you the whole time. Oops! We are so grateful for Brooks Mattias. He is a sweetheart, a comedian, a bookworm, a ball hog, and a great dancer. And now he's two...gulp.

What serendipity to have a forced "day off" in order to celebrate and honor the birthday boy, Brooks! The videos and photos showed that he was totally engrossed and delighted with all of the fuss that was made over him. A day later he will probably wonder how he lost his luster.
Thanks for sharing his birthday with us.
Love, Paizão
Happy birthday Brooksie! I'm so glad everyone was able to stay home for the big day. It sounds like he scored with presents this year.
And Elise, I hope it doesn't require another hurricane to give you enough time to update your blog again!
